I think they are refered to as Rosetta rivets. They may be for the trim tag. Usually 25.00 a piece. For the casting dates. My block, heads and intake were cast 3rd week april and car was built 1st week of may. I just sat in a 65 YJ column shift car with TI. Casting dates are 3rd week November with a build date 1st week Dec. So imo anything a month to a week should be ok. patrick

I would find it very interesting to do a poll to find out how many of us still have the original/correct date code engine in their cars. Since Pontiac did not stamp the vin, the more we know about our cars history the better. I know mine is the original WJ. patrick
