My 356HP has been rebuilt, so I can't speak to the performance of a stock 356. Mine now has a full roller hydraulic cam, H.O. specs, but the compression has been lowered to about 10:1 for the sake of running on today's pump gas. I am still running exhaust through the stock log manifolds, but will be installing a set of long branch manifolds (HO style) this fall. So let's say at this point I probably have power about equivalent to a newly produced 376 (and should surpass it with the manifolds). My best time yet - on G70x14 bias ply tires - is 14.4second 1/4-mile. I expect to get into the high 13's once the exhaust is flowing, and maybe some re-jetting.
I asked Gary Kittle how my car performed compared to his 338/4-speed, and he said there was a big difference.
If anyone else has times to share, this is the time.
