'65 Rear Trim Panel 12 Years, 2 Months ago
I just acquired a used rear trim panel which is - of course - a victim of the usual pitting. Thinking about biting the bullet & getting it restored & plated. The one on my car is an older restoration and - while very presentable - is not perfect. Probably an 8 out of 10.
So, who can recommend a plater that will do a really nice job on pot metal, yet not charge so much that I will need to take a second mortgage on my home? The best one I've ever seen was by Finishing Touch - they charged $3000. Advanced plating tells me $2500 at least.
Any other suggestions?

Les at PontiacParadise likes pot metal restorations www.customcoatings.net.

I have not dealt with them only passing along information from another person.

Here's an update.
I trusted the very expensive tail panel I found at Norwalk 2013 to my local plater - Don @ Polished Treasures in Chesapeake City, MD. He did a fantastic job of removing all the pits and re-chroming, at a reasonable price. Once the weather warms I'll be mounting it.
