A post on the PY forum (
Click here for link) asked if there were any production figures for 1966 2+2 convertibles - a breakdown is not available anywhere, to my knowledge.
Using the "Search Cars" function on the "Registry" tab, I took some time to research the numbers of convertibles registered here. I then referenced Larry Kosek's 1995 Registry (in the "Articles" tab) to see how many cars were documented as of 1995.
The results are quoted below:
The following figures are from the 2+2 Registry, current as of August 2017. Although admittedly a very small sample (and it only counts surviving cars registered, not numbers originally manufactured), the following may give a rough estimate from which you may extrapolate an estimate:
1964 - 6 convertibles out of 29 total = 21%
1965 - 31 convertibles out of 101 total = 31%
1966 - 41 convertibles out of 85 total = 35%
1967 - 15 convertibles out of 34 total = 44%
For comparison, the figures below are from 1995 as compiled by Larry Kosek on the former 2+2 Registry:
1964 - 8 convertibles out of 18 total = 44%
1965 - 18 convertibles out of 52 total = 35%
1966 - 19 convertibles out of 52 total = 37%
1967 - 7 convertibles out of 24 total = 29%
Total production figures by year:
1964 = 7,998
1965 = 11,519
1966 = 6,383
1967 = 1,768
If this methodology is valid, using 36% (a non-weighted average of the numbers from the 1995 & current 2+2 Registries), an approximate number for 1966 2+2 convertibles might be 2298 produced.
