Think you are right about the bidding. The seller had 3 cars for sale at same time and the "bidders" were bidding on all three and one of those "won" the auction

Sold for $39K. I'm hoping it's a legitimate sale, because that would be a very strong price for an automatic column-shift car. I asked the seller to invite the buyer to register it here, so let's see what happens.

No way legit...the bidders were bidding on all 3 of their listings at the same time..with no other real bidders competing

Sometimes a dealer will "bid up" their own cars, so they can tell a prospective buyer that it "went for $39K on eBay".
